WORLD BASKETBALL CHAMPIONSHIP
ANKARA, ISTANBUL, IZMIR & KAYSERI

Welcome to Turkey! The World Championship is played every 4 years and determines the world’s best basketball nation.

The inaugural World Championship was played in 1950 in Argentina and the competition has been held 15 times since.

The 2010 edition will be played in Turkey between 28th August and 12th September in the cities of Kayseri, Istanbul, Ankara and Izmir. 24 teams are qualified for the event, while the draw divided them into four groups of six.

Group A plays in Kayseri: Angola, Argentina, Australia, Germany, Jordan and Serbia.
Group B plays in Istanbul: Brazil, Croatia, Iran, Slovenia, Tunisia and USA.
Group C plays in Ankara: China, Cote d'Ivoire, Greece, Puerto Rico, Russia and Turkey.
Group D plays in Izmir: Canada, France, Lebanon, Lithuania, New Zealand and Spain.

The finals will take place from Saturday 4th September to Sunday 12th September in Istanbul.
